Another year another Comic Con down. My annual trip to New York Comic Con is always a successful one. A whole day filled with interesting people, sights and events. I usually go on Saturday with my girlfriend Paola and my friend Mike but as the years go on, the event becomes more and more popular thus making it more and more crowded.
This year I decided to not only go on Saturday but Thursday as well (opening day). This ended up being a great idea and I’ll probably do this for years to come. My main purpose for going on opening day was not only to avoid the crowds but to also get my hands on some NYCC “Exclusives”. I know that some are readily available online but what’s the point of something being exclusive if anyone can go online and buy it? I won’t even get into that.
Anyway upon entering, my brother-in-law and I decided to might a subtle dash over to the Fugitive Toy line to pick up the one figure I wanted most this year: the Funko Pop Loki, Frost Version. We didn’t wait on the line that long and I wound up getting everything I wanted.
The Toy Tokyo line however, was way too long and not worth the wait. Instead, we made our way over to Mezco Toys so I could pick up a Vamonos Pests Jesse Pinkman. Next up was Toynami for the Sanrio x Hello Kitty Street Fighter Bank and Titan Toys for Dr Who.
Before the day ended I had a photo op with Giancarlo “Gus” Esposito from Breaking Bad. Not only was he amazingly nice, he continued to compliment my hair and beard which was a boost to my ego. All in all, Thursday was pretty successful as far as shopping. It was a weight lifted off my shoulders and freed up Saturday to mainly walk around and enjoy the Con itself.
If you know me you know that I have been a longtime fan of the wrestling legend Mick Foley. I heard he was going to be there so Mike and Paola were nice enough to wait in line with me for an hour and half to meet him. I have met him a few times before and he never fails to be extremely nice. Not only is he super cool but he didn’t charge when he signed three items for me.
After that we pretty much walked around for the rest of the day where I managed to score some other goods while checking out all the exhibits. In the end it was a fun time and I already can’t wait till next year. Maybe I can even snag tickets to the San Diego one!
